Alright, the end of this week and the end of discussing this race!
Pros:
Race in my backyard
Great water stops (not counting the first)
Pretty views (yay water!)
Cons:
So crowded. I like running in a pack. Not a herd
OUT OF WATER AT THE FINISH WHAT>...
No ice at finish
Confusing start/no organization
6 porta-potties at the beginning
After the race, I couldn't get any food down for nearly 5 hours. Mike knew it was bad when I wouldn't eat M&M's he was trying to hand-feed me. Between that and not being able to re-hydrate after the race, and I was DONE. Zapped. My appetite didn't return until Monday evening. Wow!
My parents came up to visit/make hamburgers that afternoon, and they were both confused by my condition...."why would you be mentally tired? Your legs should be tired!"....oh, let me educate you, little grasshopper.
I'm happy to report (knock on wood) that my hip is feeling great. Significant amounts of icing on Sunday prevented any long-term pain. My ankle finally returned to a normal, non-swollen size yesterday. The cramp in the middle/bottom of my foot that started on Monday afternoon disappeared yesterday as well.
On to San Francisco!
Glad you are feeling good!
ReplyDeleteLong runs and races usually take away my appetite too. Great diet plan!
ReplyDeleteAre you in SF next weekend? We'll be there for the half on Sunday the 31st.
SJR was my first half too! I was so irritated with the water and bathroom situation. But I think I'll still come back next year!! You had a great race! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm always starving after a good hard race!
