Oh, the new year.  Let's hope it was better than 2010?

I took most of the last two weeks off from work & from life.  I took last Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday off from work and from LIFE!  I had absolutely I had to do.  No requirements.  The laundry, errands and cleaning could wait.  It was EXACTLY what I needed.  After a very full summer, exhausting fall & crazy football season I haven't had a day 'off' since May or so.

I tried to stay off the internet (except for Twitter.  I'm an addict).  I ordered a giant grocery delivery from Amazon Fresh & cooked.  I turned on my favorite dance-around-and-sing album while I sliced veggies.  I read two books - one in a single sitting.  I knit.  I cuddled with JJ.  I took NAPS!  I went to Costco because I wanted a Hot Dog and lettuce.

Batteries?  Recharged.

Yesterday was my first run in almost two weeks.  It was cold, but I felt ALIVE.  So many options for 2011 with my health, family and running.  I listened to one of my favorite bands (they'll be on the cruise!).

This morning I threw my running stuff into a bag on a whim and brought it to work with me.

(Am I turning into Marlene?)

I jumped out for a quick run around downtown, quietly laughing at myself for the number of people staring at my bare arms.  (What?  My arms get warm.  I had four layers over my chest (minimizer, sports bra, lululemon tank, and tech shirt) and they were still cold.  Arms though?  Just fine.)

I'm not one for resolutions.  But a few goals I have for 2011:

1.  Run a 1/2 marathon.  I'm signed up for RnR, but don't want to get hopes set on a single race.  Distance instead!

2.  Lose another 40 lbs.  Not counting the 7 I've regained since October.  Oops.

3.  Stop spending so much money on random stuff.

4.  Enjoy the solo time I have with Mike on the cruise.

5.  Be nicer to Mike.

Tomorrow is my first cross-training workout for 2011.  I have lunches & dinners sketched out for the rest of the week.  I've tracked every calorie I've put in my face today.  I feel settled.

2011, I like you so far.

  2. I did the exact same thing over the last 2 weeks, and man is it nice to feel recharged! I wish every few weeks my schedule would just allow for a couple of days to cook and read books in one sitting!

How was Black heels??? I'm dying to know!
